TE-20 Front Support Braces

Posted on April 27, 2017May 17, 2017 by Paul Hoehne

I have a Ferguson tractor with no tag, a Z-120 engine, a Marvel-Shebler carburetor, and braces from the front to the rear. It appears to be a TO-20, but parts I order don’t fit. Have I misidentified it? The support rods on the sides of the oil pan, and the three piece grill all indicate Read more about TE-20 Front Support Braces[…]

Tractor Identification From Engine Serial Number

Posted on April 23, 2017April 23, 2017 by Paul Hoehne

Can you help me identify the year of manufacture of a TO 35 whose engine has serial number Z134 602701? The Z134 is the engine serial number not the tractor serial number. The tractor serial number should be on a small tag attached to the lower left corner of the dash with 4 screws. There Read more about Tractor Identification From Engine Serial Number[…]

TO-30 Replacement Block

Posted on April 23, 2017April 26, 2017 by Paul Hoehne

I have a TO-30 with a bad engine. Is there another engine we can put in it? You can use a Z120 block, but Z129 blocks as well as Z120 blocks seem to show up on Ebay on a regular basis. There were two of them for sale within the last month. There are several Read more about TO-30 Replacement Block[…]

Water in Carburetor

Posted on April 23, 2017April 23, 2017 by Paul Hoehne

I put a new TSX 883 Marvel-S carburetor on my TO 35, ran it, and then found water in the bowl. Would that explain why it would not start? Yes, water in the bowl will keep the tractor from starting. It doesn’t take much water to stop the gas from flowing in the gas line. Read more about Water in Carburetor[…]

Distributor Rebuild on a TO-30

Posted on April 23, 2017April 26, 2017 by Paul Hoehne

How much play should there be between the distributor drive gear, and the housing on a TO-30? The maximum clearance between the bottom of the distributor housing and the drive gear is 0.010″. If you are going to reset or replace the drive gear, you might as well rebuild the distributor. Steiner’s sell a rebuild Read more about Distributor Rebuild on a TO-30[…]

Power Steering Leak

Posted on April 23, 2017 by Paul Hoehne

I believe the O-Rings on the power steering at the shaft on my MF 35 are leaking. What will be required too replace them? There are no O-rings between the steering wheel shaft and the outer housing. The power steering valve is a sealed unit that slips over the steering wheel shaft. If you have Read more about Power Steering Leak[…]

Hood Side Plate Clips

Posted on April 19, 2017 by Paul Hoehne

What attaches the hood side plates of a TO 30, and how can I get some? The clips are MF part # 195679M1, and they are still available from AGCO/Massey Ferguson.

Position Control

Posted on April 19, 2017 by Paul Hoehne

The lift on my 1949 Ferguson doesn’t seem to be working properly, the lift arms are either all the way up or all the way down. Is this how it is supposed to act? The early Fergusons, like the TE/TO-20, and TO-30 do not have position control hydraulics. When you are operating a ground engaging Read more about Position Control[…]

PTO Always Turns

Posted on April 19, 2017 by Paul Hoehne

Can you tell me what might be wrong with the PTO on my 1949 Ferguson? The PTO turns all the time, except when you press the clutch, and the lever on the side doesn’t seem to affect it. The PTO on these tractors are not “live”. whenever the clutch is depressed the PTO stops. There Read more about PTO Always Turns[…]

Ferguson, MH, and MF Discs

Posted on April 15, 2017 by Paul Hoehne

I bought an old set of MF discs and was wondering where to look on them for the model and serial number. The label on the back says Massey Ferguson (what’s left of it) and it has two handel on the front to adjust the disc angles. The disc you describe is likely either a Read more about Ferguson, MH, and MF Discs[…]
