TO-30 Oil and Hydraulic Dipstick

Posted on March 19, 2017April 26, 2017 by Paul Hoehne

I don’t have an original TO-30 hydraulic oil dipstick to measure. I should have the later MF-35 version but I have to locate it to measure it. The same goes for the TO-30 engine oil dipstick. The original TO-30 hydraulic oil dipstick is prone to breaking off the handle. The original design has a bend Read more about TO-30 Oil and Hydraulic Dipstick[…]

Removing TO-35 Seal Retainer on a TO-35 Transmission

Posted on February 23, 2017March 8, 2017 by Paul Hoehne

I’m trying to replace the seal on the front of a TO-35 transmission, how do I get the retainer off? On the Live PTO models, there is a PTO drive gear that fits in a slot in the bottom of the retainer housing inside the transmission. To remove the housing you must remove the PTO Read more about Removing TO-35 Seal Retainer on a TO-35 Transmission[…]

WHAT TO LOOK FOR WHEN BUYING A FERGUSON TRACTOR By Dean Austin, Retired Ferguson/MF Mechanic Oil Leaks: On the bell housing there is a weep hole on the bottom. Swap TEA-20 Gear Box to TO-30

Posted on October 16, 2016October 17, 2016 by Paul Hoehne

Can I swap a newly rebuilt TEA-20 gear box to my TO-30?  August 9, 2016. I believe you can make the swap, though I have never tried it. I’d be sure to check for smooth shifting of the transmission, and proper adjustment of the gear shift operated starter linkage.

Sherman Transmission – How Common

Posted on October 14, 2016November 1, 2016 by Rick Weaver

How common was the Sherman transmission in a TO-30? The Sherman was probably the most often used overdrive or over/underdrive used. The other two you see are the Hupp and the F&T but, the F&T is pretty rare. These auxiliary transmissions were more common in the Ford 9N and 2N because they only had two Read more about Sherman Transmission – How Common[…]

Hupp Transmission Stuck in Two Gears

Posted on October 14, 2016November 1, 2016 by Rick Weaver

My Hupp Transmission got stuck in low gear on my TO-20. It only works in the neutral position on the Hupp. If you shift it up or down it stalls the motor. When you let the clutch out, it feels like it is in low. All gears work fine on the transmission. Any suggestions? You Read more about Hupp Transmission Stuck in Two Gears[…]

Can I put a TO-35 transmission and rear-end onto my F40? June 7, 2015 If you have a standard clearance Ferguson 40, the TO-35 transmission and rear axle should bolt up with no problem. There was a change in the ring gear in the TO-35 models. Those prior to serial number 169 467 use a Read more about TO-35 Transmission/Rear End on F40[…]

Sherman Transmission Noise

Posted on October 14, 2016October 14, 2016 by Rick Weaver

Last summer we installed a Sherman step-up transmission in our TE-20. It runs great, no noise until I wanted to start up our saw bench… (PTO driven, not by belt) When I started up the saw bench there was a ‘knocking’ sound that definitely came out the Sherman transmission. Is this known by you guys? Read more about Sherman Transmission Noise[…]
